TREASURE’S ISLAND

Treasure’s Island had its Grand Opening on October 17, 1947. Originally part of a four-store building built by David J. and Sally Hoffman, the stone-faced, modern building at 4200 W. Lake Street Minnetonka) featured a deli, a 5 to $1 store, and a Dairyland Equipment store. The corner had been a “swamp, eyesore.”  For some reason there was another Grand Opening in November 1952.

Treasure’s Island sold children’s furniture and accessories.  The name comes from their motto: “Your dearest treasures are your children.” As of 2004 there was also a store in Eagan.
