4130 YOSEMITE The House of Two Mayors

This rather famous house has been home to two Mayors of St. Louis Park:  William M. Martin, and Phyllis McQuaid.  The following information is based on an incomplete set of St. Louis Park directories, and corrections are welcome.
According to Paul Martin, his father William M. Martin built the house at 4130 Yosemite Ave. and moved in in July 1929.  The family lived in the house to at least 1949.

We have William K Tuthill owning the house from 1956 to 1959, but it could be earlier and/or later than that.  His wife was Helen and the occupation is listed as Gardner Hdw.  The 1958 book clarifies that he is a driver for Gardner Hdw.

The McQuaid family bought the house on or before 1962.  Joseph W. McQuaid was a Copy Desk Editor at the Star and Tribune.  He and his wife Phyllis had 7 children.  Phyllis McQuaid served as Mayor of St. Louis Park from 1980-82.  Joseph died in 1993.  Phyllis moved from her empty nest in 2007.
