MUNICIPAL SERVICE CENTER

Municipal equipment was first stored at the Village Fire Station, built in 1918 at 3611 Brunswick (also described as on 36th Street between Brunswick and Dakota).


In 1941 the Village Garage was built at 5620 W. 35 1/2 Street.  The garage was built to house the equipment and provide space and facilities for maintenance and repair of City vehicles.


In the early 1960s the City acquired a metal Quonset hut that had been formerly used for Veterans’ housing after World War II.  This facility was converted into a sign shop and additional storage space.


Some time before 1976 the Municipal Service Center was built at 7305 Oxford.
