This home was built in 1891.
For many years it was home to the Downing family, one of the oldest families in the Park. Robert and Lillian M. Downing came to the U.S. from Canada in 1903. They lived in this house from at least 1910 to at least 1938. The 1910 Census shows that they had three sons, one daughter, and five boarders.
In 1939 the name E.S. Arthur is associated with the house.
From at least 1940 to 1951 it was the home of Martin Sand, who was the Superintendent of the Creosote Plant.
The house was connected to the Village water system in 1942.
In 1977 Una Keeley was listed as the owner of the house.
The current owner bought the house in 1984.
