Although we don’t know when the original building was built, we do know that in 1948 it was owned by Art Engstrom, Jr., JL Engstrom, and a Mr. Leinberger.
In 1951 this address was listed to the St. Louis Park Radio Cab Company.
In 1952 it was rebuilt as a Phillips 66 Station ( JA Johnson Co.). Various names of the station over the years include:
M&A “66” Service (1953-54). Grand Opening June 5-6, 1953. Popsicles and pencils for the children, and with the purchase of 7 gallons of gas you got a decanter and four matching juice glasses.
Dan’s Phillips “66” Service (Fall 1954-55), run by Dan Zelenko.
Mike and Milt’s “66” Service (1956)
Swanson Brothers “66” Service (1960)
(George) Keith’s Phillips 66 Service (also 1960-61)
Jack’s “66” Super Service (1961-1964)
Brookside “66” (1966-1970; in 1967 it was Dave Barton “66).
The current SuperAmerica gas station was built in 1978.
