Color-Ad Packaging, Inc. was established in 1963 with just four employees, limited capital, a printing press, a bag machine and a rewinder. The company was started by Dick Wesley and Tom and Bunny Mueller. It grew over the years to at least 120 employees, a complete machine shop, lab facilities, and technical director. In St. Louis Park it was located at 3600 Alabama Ave.

The company also started plants in New Hope and Winnipeg, Canada.
