LIBRARY LANE BUILDINGS
The following addresses have been advertised in the years before Louisiana Ave. was put through the Creosote Property in 1980. Before that happened, their addresses were listed as Louisiana. After 1980, they were changed to Library Lane.
3396 Library Lane – See 6800 Lake Street.
3402 Louisiana/Library Lane/6801 Lake was built in 1950 by the S&S Construction Co. for owner Harry Millberg. Although there were four different buildings planned, eventually they were all joined together with the same brick facade on the front. A trip to the alley in the back shows that they are indeed irregular-sized buildings in the back. Collectively they are known as the Millberg Building. Tenants included:
-
In 1950-64 it was The Bavaria Art Glass Co. The company designed, manufactured, and restored stained glass windows for churches and public buildings all over the country, including the then-new St. Louis Park City Hall. In 1964 its president was Patrick Carver and it had 24 employees.
-
In 1967-71 there was a Eutectic Welding Alloys Company in residence. Joseph Goebel was the regional manager (8 employees) in 1971.
-
In 1971 it was the site of Miko Machine Tool Company, Mike Takacs, president (4 employees).
-
Also in 1971 it was the address of Diversified Generals, Inc., general contractors and remodelers. David Mormann was executive vice president (8 employees).
-
In 1979 it housed the Continental Hair Fashion Beauty Parlor.
-
In 1989 it was home to Erica’s Beauty Shop.
-
In 1991 there was at least an intention to move Bennett’s Cycle into the property.
-
This first building north has two apartments on the second floor.
-
In 2013 there is a sign that indicates businesses called Park Thrift and Gifts occupy one of the storefronts
-
In 2013 there is also a sign for Monkey Bridge Arts LLC Center for Art, Dreaming and Creativity
-
Technically this is part of 3404 Library Lane (below)
3404 Louisiana/Library Lane/6804 Lake Street was another Millburg building built by S & S Construction in 1954. In 1956 there was a remodel. Companies included:
-
Process Food-Ads Silk Screen Printing was advertised in the Echowan at this address.
-
In 1957-60 it was the Industrial Gasket Co.
-
Park Press
-
Aremco machine shop, owned by Ralph Gruman 1967-74
-
Lakeland Fabricators
-
Sign Shop, 1954
-
Sign on the door in 2013 says Twin Cities Toner, Inc.
-
Sign on the back garage door says Thompson Medical In.
In 1980 the owner appeared to be Larry (Jerry?) Tuccearone, and since then it has been owned by a company called Library Lane Four.
3406 Louisiana/Library Lane/6806 Lake. Built by S&H Construction for Harry Millberg in 1954. Building permit approved by Village Council on 44/19/1954. Millberg had something to do with Byrd Vending?
-
In 1954 and 1955, Park Press advertised at this address in the Echowan. Curiously, in 1950 and again in 1962 Park Press was listed at the Walker Building, 6516 Walker Street, but was back here in ’59. Ad below in 1954 directory.
-
Hydra-POWR ENGG was in residence in 1964
-
New owner, 1969
-
Machine Shop here in 1970
-
Perry Amusement Co., 1981
-
In 1989, JNE Services had a secretarial, packing and shipping, international documentation store at this address.
-
Technically part of 3404 Library Lane (above)
3412-14-16 Louisiana/Library Lane Appears to have been built in three stages, but has been all combined today. Only 3416 exists as an address in the city’s database, built in 1954.
3412 Louisiana/Library Lane: The owner appears to have been Gerald La Sere. The Council approved the building permit on 7/28/1952.
-
John Schold & Sons, Permastone Twin Cities (1953)
-
La Sere owned Park Cleaners, advertised at this address in 1953-62 Echowans.

In 1975 La Sere requested to add apartments to the building, but was refused.
-
Also in 1975, Joseph Lehan ran the Printing Press.
-
In 2000 it was purchased by J W Precision LLC
3424 Louisiana/Library Lane: St. Louis Park Radio Cab advertised at this address in the 1954 and 1955 Echowans.
As of 2013 there is no sign on this building.
3501 Louisiana Ave.: 2004
3554 Louisiana Ave.: This is an alternate address for 7301 Walker Street, home of Mill City Plywood. Louisiana Oaks Apartments were built here in 2000. This was not part of the Creosote Plant property.
3745 Louisiana: This property has also been known as 3721 Monitor, 3755 Louisiana, and 7115 Lake Street. Sam’s Club has been here since 1991.
3750 Louisiana Ave.: 1987
3857 Louisiana Ave.: This is a puzzler. There is no such address today, and the approximate location where it would have been (on Oxford?) seems to be vacant land owned by Methodist Hospital. A 1971 business directory indicates that it was a Control Data Core Storage Mfg. Div. headquarters, C.M. Sciandra, general manager, and that it employed 100 to 120 people. Also see a Control Data site at 6831 Oxford.
3930-52 Louisiana Ave.: 1961
LOUISIANA CIRCLE BUILDINGS
3900-02-04-06 Louisiana Circle: 1960
3920-22-24 Louisiana Circle: 1961
