We don’t know how old this building is – once a building is demolished, City records go away. But we do know that it was Art and Esther’s Tavern in 1938-1939. In 1941 it was just Esther’s Tavern.
At some point it was a grocery store.
We know it was the Park Tavern in November 1952, when it was announced that it was under new management. The picture below is from 1980.
The building was demolished in August 1981 to make way for the widening of Louisiana Ave. Plans changed, and it is now a municipal parking lot.
