This gas station, built in 1954, was built and owned by Adolph Fine. Our knowledge of the history of this station is intermittent:
In September 1955 it was (George) Haun & (Walt) Lehmann Standard.
In 1956 it was Walt’s Texa-Tonka Standard, Walt Lehmann, proprietor.
In 1959 it was Cox Bros. Standard.
In 1962-63 it was Warren’s Standard Oil.
In 1966 it was Neal’s Texa-Tonka Standard. We have delightful proof of this in this local record: it’s a bit hard to read, but it’s rubber stamped with the name of the station and the address. Someone has written in the phone number and “Thank You.” Pixy was the artist and 1972 was the song. Kairay was the record label of the reclusive local musician Tony Caire.
In 1970 it was Larry’s Texa-Tonka Standard.
In 2007 it was no longer a gas station, but D&D Auto Works.
