He received his Master’s degree from University of South Dakota, and taught history at Black Hills Teachers college, Spearfish, South Dakota.
In 1954 he received his Doctorate in history from the University of Minnesota.
He served as a professor of history at the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, Washington; Vice-president and dean at Detroit Institute of Technology; Vice-president for academic affairs and professor of history at Paterson State College, Wayne, New Jersey; and in 1971 taught at Passaic, New Jersey Community College
He died on August 16, 1990 in Franklin, New Jersey
