This house at 5647 Minnetonka Blvd. was built in 1940 by Dr. Robert Howard, a professor at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Howard was the father of Greg Howard, who went on to national fame as the creator of the Sally Forth comic strip.
In May 1951 the house was purchased by Robert L. Tupper. Son Ken remembers that his father paid about $12,000 for it. At the time Minnetonka Blvd. was not even paved. Ken Tupper provides this photo of his house back then:
